THE AUTHOR

 

Brooklyn-born A.B. “Robbie” Robbins joined the Marines at 17, where he started on the road to his black belt in judo and brown belt in karate. He became a professional ballroom dancer at the age of 21. During his dance career he garnered a national championship in the old Arthur Murray days. Then went on to earn status as a master performer, coach, and choreographer.

Robbie is an outstanding chef and has written a cookbook, THE CONVENIENCE MARKET GOURMET. He has two short story collections which he had printed in paperback for family and friends. The first is titled WORLDWIDE ADVENTURES OF A BEVERLY HILLS PI, based on the character he introduced in Michael Connelly's Mystery Writers of America anthology MURDER IN VEGAS. The second is titled JOHNNY A-TRAIN ~ MUSICAL MYSTERIES. He has also completed a novel titled FATAL FAT TUESDAY, based on his Johnny A-Train character.

Another writing credit is a short story titled CLACKIN' THE BONES, published in MAGNOLIAS AND MAYHEM, edited by Jeffrey Marks.

He is a student of classical and flamenco guitar, has also owned a nightclub/restaurant in the New Orleans area, a judo/karate dojo in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, ballroom dance studios in several states, and health clubs in California, Washington, and Texas. Along the way he earned double screen credits as actor/choreographer for TONY BRAVO IN SCENES FROM A FORGOTTEN CINEMA, an indie-prod film shot in New Orleans.
